Officially sanctioned genocide in Afghanistan?

13 August 2008, 12:51, by Ahmad Khalid

Recently Afghanistan has become the center of international attention, as it is strategically located at a very crucial point at the heart of Asia. It has been a victim of invasion of world’s super powers such as Great Britain, Soviet Union and United states in different era of its history. Its geo-political location and uranium resources have gained attentions of super powers. Considering the evidence of history, which states that Afghanistan has been the land of heroes and has never given up its freedom and always fought against invaders as its brave people defeated Great Britain and Soviet Union. But now United States has come up with new formula i.e. helping Afghan nation and developing their country.

In 2001 after the collapse of Taliban’s regime with the help of coalition forces and formation of new government in Afghanistan, Afghans were expecting a brighter future with a better political scene empty from those who were the real destructors of Afghanistan and responsible for civil wars until early 1996 which caused millions of deaths, migration of millions of people to neighboring countries and led the country to ruins.

Everybody hoped once to see those who were involved in the destruction and demolition of the country be prosecuted and be punished for their crimes and sins as per the constitutional law. But soon after, everyone noticed that the international community lead by U.S.A, a new government of Afghanistan has brought back to power those who were directly or indirectly involved in the destruction of the country. They are more powerful now than 1993 to early 1996.

This revolution provided an opportunity not only to those who wanted once to apply communist ideology to an Islamic country and are responsible for thousands of murdering, but also those warlords who were involved in civil wars, to recover themselves after a period of 6 years of Taliban domination in Afghanistan.

In fact those who appeared with a busy political, economic and military scene by the name of democracy, along with support of international community and U.S.A are the main causes of crises in Afghanistan and have abused the names of republic, constitutionalism, communism and Islam during past 50 years.

A recently released non-governmental document states that Afghanistan produces the majority of the world’s opium and heroin. Many high level officials and warlords are the real owners of the drug smuggling networks, its production and traffic across the region. A high level of corruption in government bodies led the national and international mafia involvement in the drug smuggling which enables them to make huge sums of money and to fund their operations across the world, which has become a big challenging task to international community nowadays.

The government has not been able to reduce the level of corruption, poverty, and illiteracy, nor maintain security in the 7 years since its formation in 2001. This is all due to the existence and participation of criminals and warlords in the government bodies and the way and ease they get support from government.
