First Hazaraghi Dambura Festival in Bamiyan

On July 7th and 9th the first Dambura Festival took place in Bamiyan. Thousands of women and men participated to one of biggest cultural event organized in the province. The Ulama council tried to prevent the event, claiming the Festival “un-islamic”, but protests spread on social media and the people of Bamiyan chose to enjoy the Festival.

During the Festival the famous musician Safdar Tawakoli has been awarded for his half a century’s work on traditional Hazaragi music.
